Dr. Gerhard Wiebe

Dr. Gerhard Wiebe specialises in advising on product compliance issues. He advises international and national manufacturers, importers and distributors of non-food products (consumer and investment goods), on product safety and product liability law. In addition to traditional product law aspects, Dr. Wiebe also focuses on the constantly growing IT-security law requirements for digital products.

Dr. Gerhard Wiebe is an expert in the field of product law. He advises international and national manufacturers, importers and distributors of consumer products and work equipment on ensuring product compliance. In doing so, he supports his clients in complying with the legal requirements for products in order to be able to make them available on the German market as well as on the European market in a legally secure manner. If a product is targeted by the market surveillance authorities, he is at his clients' side with advice and action in market surveillance proceedings as well as in any administrative court disputes. He also represents companies – both in and out of court – in the defence of damages and compensation claims in product liability cases. He also assists in taking and coordinating remedial measures, such as product recalls, to manage product risks, also taking into account possible product liability under criminal law. Furthermore, legal advice on the establishment and optimisation of organisational product compliance structures is part of his work profile. In addition, Dr. Wiebe deals with issues of European, constitutional and administrative law, with freedom of information law being one of his particular areas of expertise.
